Potato Stamp Cards
Potatoes and celery! Yes, they are delicious together in soups and chowders, but did you know that you can use them to make crafts too? Use these great ideas to help your family make beautiful homemade cards this Valentine’s Day!
To create easy vegetable stamps, follow a few simple steps and you will be stamping in no time!
Wash and dry your potatoes. Cut potatoes in half width wise.
Use a cookie cutter to cut into the potato. Leave the cutter in the potato and score around it with a paring knife. Remove the excess potato from around the cookie cutter (use it for mashed potatoes) and then remove the cookie cutter.
You should be left with a perfect shape! (In this case a heart. Although you can use whatever shape you wish!)
Using craft paint that has been thinned down with a little water, dip your potato stamp into the paint and stamp it onto a blank card or piece of paper!
Decorate or embellish as you desire.
Starting with a full bunch of celery, cut off the bottom 3 or 4 inches. Try to cut as straight as possible, because you will want an even stamp surface.Use the celery stalks for in a soup or potato salad. The bottom of the celery bunch will be our stamp.
Again, using craft paint that has been thinned down with a little water, dip the celery into the paint.
Stamp onto the blank card or paper.
Paint leaves and stems. Embellish or decorate further if you wish.
Now you have some beautiful handmade cards to give to all of your Valentines!
